The Benefits of Teens

The teen years can have a really bad rap. Most parents dread them and look forward to rebellion. I was talking to one of the other moms at co-op about being Friday being hot date night and leaving the kids at home. And she replied, “I am so jealous.” So that inspired this chat.

The teen years don’t need to be something you dread. Rebellion and disrespect don’t need to be default behaviors.

I am always hesitant to give parenting advice because I feel like my kids need to be 30 to really see if I know what I am talking about. I have almost 3 teens right now, my daughter is not 13 yet but girls turn into teens when they are about 8. she’s close enough. And 3 more to go, so I am open to be tested in everything I am about to say. But there are a lot of things I am enjoying about the teen years.

Pour yourself some coffee in your Keep Calm, Mom On mug because that’s what you need to do for the teen years. Here are the 10 benefits of teens in the home. It is a gigantic shift from taking 6 kids to Costco with two in the shopping cart and the baby in the Ergo carrier. It is amazing to go by myself.
