I am going to be getting rid of some sacred cows today as we talk about do you actually need a certification to be a virtual assistant.
Welcome to this week’s momtreprenuer life coffee chat. This is the time we pull back the curtain on life as a work from home mom and homeschool mom. It is the good the bad and the ugly.
I’ve been a successful virtual assistant and homeschool mom for almost 10 years.
Certification to be a Virtual Assistant
Recently, I saw a post saying, “Take this course and become a certified virtual assistant.” And I thought, “Oh, ok. That’s interesting, since there isn’t an industry recognized standard certification.” How can anyone certify someone else as a virtual assistant?
I like to give practical advice and practical help. The bottom line is, you do not need a certification to be a virtual assistant.
This is why. A virtual assistant is a wide-range of skills. It is a huge umbrella that covers a lot of things. It is almost impossible to certify someone as a virtual assistant.
Taking Certifications as a Virtual Assistant
There are certifications that are industry recognized that you can get as a virtual assistant. But they aren’t certifications to be a virtual assistant.
For example, you can become a Quickbooks Pro Advisor. You can get marketing certifications from Hubspot. LinkedIn learning also offers paths and certificates. These are industry recognized certifications in specific fields.
If you want to enhance the services that you offer, getting certificates in specific areas is a great way to do it.
As always, there is so much more in the show. Listen or watch.
