Unwrap The Best Cozy Christmas Mysteries

Since it is Christmas time, we’ve focused on finding the perfect book to curl up in front of the fireplace with, and you can’t get any cozier than cozy Christmas mysteries.

If you’re just jumping into the series, I want to invite you to check out the other post in this series. We talked about the five best Christmas books for moms, Christmas read alouds, chapter books for the holidays, and now we are going to talk about the best cozy Christmas mysteries.

Best Cozy Christmas Mysteries

1. Hercule Piorot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie.

You can’t read cozy mysteries without including one from the queen of mystery. Of course, this is your typical master of mystery book with a locked door mystery where there’s no possible way that anyone could have done it. You have people who do not seem to be who they say they are.

So all the elements of a mystery are in this book. And if you want to curl up in front of the fireplace with a nice warm cup of coffee, or maybe make yourself a peppermint mocha and read a good book, then I recommend this one.

2. Murder in Season by Jessica Fletcher

I would totally live in Cabot Cove, except for the crime rate. It would be the perfect place to live. Now, I grew up watching Murder, She Wrote, and I enjoy continuing the adventures that I used to watch when I was a teenager.

If I want a laid-back read, I usually pick a Murder, She Wrote book. And this one is a festive whodunit that’s set against the cozy and occasional deadly backdrop of Cabot Cove at Christmastime.

Small town New England at Christmas sounds good to me. The brief synopsis is Jessica is almost done with restoring her house when human bones are discovered in the hole for her septic tank. One set is ancient and the other is more recent. And so she dives into the mystery of these bones. And then another murder occurs, of course, and she must solve the deep secrets of the past in order to find the murder in the present.

Despite the high crime rate in this very small town, I would totally enjoy Christmas time in Cabot Cove…but without the crime.

3. The Cornish Christmas Murder by Fiona Leicht

This is book four in a Nosy Parker Cozy Mystery series. This was the first book in the series that I’ve read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The main character is Jodie and the name is even spelled correctly. It’s nice when there’s a character in the book whose name they actually spell correctly.

The style of writing is very easygoing and quite hilarious, it is a perfect cozy Christmas mystery. Maybe it is my age, but I appreciate that the heroine of the story is middle-aged, a bit round, and has a quirky sense of humor.

Jodie is a former detective turned caterer, and she finds herself snowed in at an old Abbey. This mystery had me guessing for sure. With no way in or out, and the police unable to reach them, Jodie must unravel a whodunit amongst a cast of quirky characters.

If you’re a fan of the Marlowe Murder Club or the Thursday Murder Club series, then you’ll like this book as well.

Conclusion: Best Cozy Christmas Mysteries

That is a wrap for our cozy Christmas reads for this holiday season. I’m wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
