Homeschool Mom Burnout
This happens to all of us. Let’s define burnout: Your mental and emotional reserves are just dried up. Thinking you just can’t do this anymore.
Mom, we’ve all been there to some degree or another. After my sixth baby made her grand entrance, I completely hit a wall. She was a high needs baby, but then there were a lot of other things going on too. So when it came to cooking or grocery shopping, I didn’t want to do it anymore. Now that my baby is 3, I am starting to get behind these feelings. Yes, it took 3 years.
Keep figuring out those things that are going to get you past your burnout. One of the things that helped was delegating these tasks to my kids. Yes, they really stepped up and helped with the cooking. This really helped me come out of it.
The Cycle of Your Homeschool Year that Leads to Homeschool Mom Burnout
You start in August or September, and you start with the confidence of a 3-year-old wearing a Wonder Woman cape. Mom, there are so many things to be excited about this time of year—learning something new, boxes of books, getting back into your school routine—your emotions are high.
The first three months are usually good. Then you hit the holidays, which are nice. There isn’t that much school, everyone is excited about the Thanksgiving and Christmas. Then January hits.
You are trying to get back into your routine, and it becomes just a little bit harder. Then February rolls around and it becomes even harder. Then March is looming in front of you. And you are ready to cry and throw in the towel.
Sometimes it just feels overwhelming at this time. Or you are just tired of the cold weather. It is just time of a gloomy month, and you are just ready for a change of season and it’s not happening.
The April and May come. The excite is back because it is almost the end of the year, and you start buying curriculum for next year.
