When I come into these chats, I usually know what I want to talk about, but this one was a little different. There is so much going on because it is the holiday season that I couldn’t pick just one thing. Since this is the last recording for 2021, I decided to do an end of the year wrap up.
Taking a Break for December
Yes, I am excited to slow down and take a break for December. But don’t worry, there will still be a lot of content coming in December. I was able to schedule things ahead of time, so I can take a break.
There is a natural slow down during the holidays, and for this year I want to embrace the slow down. Take a break and get my creative cup refilled. I haven’t added everything up, but I think I am close to 100,000 words for this year. That is a lot of words.
Typically, when I come to a natural slow down, I fill it with other things. But I am determined to take a break and say no when I can. I feel like I need to replenish. Do you have moments during the year where you need to replenish?
Getting Back into Homeschool After a Break
The kids had the full week off of school and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a great Thanksgiving break (I didn’t host this year, so bonus). But coming off the break, regardless of how short or long it is, it is difficult.
I was going to share my wealth of wisdom from a veteran homeschool mom about coming off a break. But the only wisdom I have it just to endure, they will get back into. The best advice I can give from my many years as a homeschooler and homeschooling mom—just endure.
Exciting News for the End of the Year
I finished a United States unit study. I wanted to create one that was very low pressure, but that would give an elementary student the basics. I am in the process of proofreading, but it will be a homeschool resources available soon.
