Pocket Homeschool

Melissa started a business to help other moms feel confident in their homeschooling. She loves to write curriculum, so loves to share it with others.

She is a mom of 2 very energetic boys. They have been homeschooling from the start of their elementary years. She was a new homeschooling mom and didn’t know much about it when she started.

They just kept trying it year after year.

The Pressure to have All the Education Figured Out

Moms I am going to lift a weight off your shoulders. You don’t need to have your child’s whole education career planned out from preschool to high school. Breathe a sigh of relief. It is ok to take homeschool or even public school year by year to see what works best for your family.

You don’t have to make this decision forever, if isn’t working for you. It is a decision that you make in little ways every day. And if your family circumstances change, then how you educate your kids can also change.

If you feeling like you need a big moment of decision, then listen to the episode and take the pressure off.

The Homeschool Conversation

Usually, it is the mom who drives the homeschool conversation. Which is understandable, since it is usually the mom who takes on the responsibility of education. For Melissa, it was her husband who started the conversation because he had been homeschooled.

Melissa didn’t have any experience with homeschooling but wanted to offer something different for her kids. Although, she had a great education experience, but she wanted to do something different with her kids.

What is Your Style

There are so many ways to homeschool, and I think every mom goes through a few different ways to do it before figuring out what fits best for her family.

After trying a little bit of everything, Melissa has settled into a very eclectic style of homeschool. You don’t need to limit yourself to doing just one thing in one way.

Listen to the episode to hear how she changed her style and found what works for her.

Homeschooling and a Business

Melissa kind of fell into creating a business. She had some goals and dreams, but she let the ideas just live in her head for a while. But those around her encouraged her to go for it.

In one weekend, she just decided to go for it. She would love to have a plan written out, but if she had waited for the perfect plan it would have taken her forever. It took some friends pushing her out of her comfort zone to get started.

Hear Melissa’s whole story.

Conclusion: Your Homeschool is Unique to You

It is a lot to figure out homeschool and a business. Listen to the latest episode to hear how Melissa does it all, and she offers her best advice when it comes to starting a business as a homeschool mom.
