3 Tips To Pick The Best Homeschool Science Curriculum

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post and I was compensated for my time to review and write about College Prep Science. All opinions are always my own. Thank you to Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science for sponsoring this post. For more information on sponsored posts, see my disclosure.

Science is not my favorite subjects, so I do everything I can to pick a homeschool science curriculum that isn’t parent-led, sparks my kids’ interest, and works for the high school transcript.

History is my favorite subject, but I know science is important for them to learn. Understanding the scientific theory and how to apply is foundational for critical thinking skills. Applying the scientific method works for more than just the scientific field. It can apply to almost all ideas too. It is one way for kids to filter good ideas from bad ideas.

So how do you teach homeschool science, when it isn’t your best subject?

Homeschool Classes Online

Mom, I know we tend to put pressure on ourselves to teach everything and be the best teacher for our kids. I’m going to let you in on a secret. You don’t lose your best teacher status by outsourcing subjects you don’t want to teach.

If you are working from home and homeschooling, then outsourcing homeschool science curriculum is the best tool in your mom bag.

We can’t always teach our kids every subject. Whether it is because we don’t like it, we don’t remember it, or we just don’t want to teach it. The best tool we can give our kids is teaching them how to find the answers to their questions. Even if it comes from a source that isn’t mom.

Benefits of Online Homeschool Science Curriculum

I think homeschooling online is one of the best things that happened to homeschool curriculum. It gives our kids more options, and moms have more opportunities to encourage interest-based learning.

Here are 3 benefits of online homeschool science curriculum:

1. Flexibility

Homeschooling is all about freedom. Setting our own schedules, choosing what we want to learn, and when we want to learn it. Homeschool classes online encourages this freedom.

With Greg Landry’s Homeschool Science students learn at their own pace or you have the option to enroll in live classes. You get the greatest flexibility.

Online homeschool science curriculum gives you the greatest flexibility to meet the different learning needs of all your kids.

2. Interactive Virtual Labs

This is my favorite part, homeschool labs online. There are some moms who love the hands-on science experiments. I applaud them. But I am not one of those moms.

However, I am fully aware that it is necessary for the high school transcript if my kids want to continue to college.

Instead of my kitchen being turned into a lab or fire extinguishers being brandished in the name of science. I prefer homeschool labs online. Everything is done online, and no supplies are needed.

Your kitchen stays clean, and you aren’t cleaning up fire extinguisher particles for days. Ask me how I know…

3. Stress Free Science

As moms, whether or not you work from home, we need to find those things that keep our homeschool mostly stress free. You can pick a homeschool science curriculum that you don’t need to be involved in.

If science stresses you out, like it does me, then take it off your plate. Mom, it is possible to have a mostly stress free homeschool day. One way to do it is to use homeschool classes online.

3 Tips to Pick the Best Homeschool Science Curriculum

Now let’s look at three tips to pick the best homeschool science curriculum.

1. Variety of Subjects

Consider all the subjects offered, and the many ways they are offered. Self-paced online classes, live online classes, or even textbooks.

Is it possible to use the subjects for most of your school years? I know when I find the right curriculum, I want to use it for a while.

As you pick your curriculum, consider the topics offered, if you will use it for a few years, and if it will fit your kids’ style of learning.

2. Christian Worldview Homeschool Science

This is one of the most important factors when picking a science curriculum. What is the worldview of the curriculum?

The focus of College Prep Science is to give homeschool students access to science that is focused on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, process reasoning, data collection, and the graphical and written presentation of research.

If a Christian worldview homeschool science is important to you, then you want to pick one that will give your kids a solid foundation from a Christian worldview.

3. Budget

Curriculum is expensive, so budget is always a factor when it comes to choosing a curriculum. That’s why I am a huge fan of family memberships. Accessing an entire catalog of classes for the whole family is a win-win in my book.

The Homeschool Science Membership gives you access to over $3000 worth of classes and labs for the whole family.

If budget is a constraint, and it usually is, then consider a family membership when picking your science curriculum.

Conclusion: Homeschool Science Curriculum

Use online homeschool science curriculum to leverage flexibility, get more resources at your fingertips, and interactive virtual labs (my favorite). You can have a mostly stress free homeschool day.

Get the Homeschool Science Membership for the whole family!

By leveraging the flexibility, resources, and interactive tools available online, homeschool families can provide a resource rich science education.
