Activities to Homeschool Through the Holidays

Here are my tips to get through the holidays with less stress and enjoyment.

1. Take time off

The holidays are a natural time to take time off from school and clients. Depending on what you do or the industry you are in, businesses typically slow down this time of year. It is a natural point to take some time off.

Definitely take some time off from school. You need a break, your kids need a break. Embrace this season.

2. Activities outside of the textbooks

If it is not possible to take time off because you need to meet your homeschool hours or for other reasons. What you can do is take a break from your textbooks. There are everyday activities that count as homeschooling.

Do other activities other than textbooks. Reading and get some fun notebooking pages to go along with your book.

Cookie decorating is another fun activity, and you don’t even need to make the cookies. You can have a lot of fun without a lot of works.

Do field trips. We like to go to the zoo and see the Christmas Safari.

Grab the Christmas bundle, and download Christmas-themed wordsearches and coloring books.

There are a lot of things that you can do that don’t involve textbooks.

3. Do unit studies

This is a great time to break up your learning and change things up. Do a deep dive into a topic that interests you.

Grab this artist unit study!

4. Make Friday fun day

Watch movies or documentaries. Play games. Set aside once a week to do something fun.

5. Enjoy!

I know we don’t always achieve the delight and wonder that we did as kids. It is up to you to plan the delight and wonder. But be intentional about making memories with your kids.
