Best Advice For Mompreneurs From Homeschooling To Work from Home

There is so much advice for mompreneurs and homeschool moms.

Honestly, when I started almost 10 years ago there wasn’t anything for mompreneurs…at least any that I could find in all my desperate searching.

Many of us started working from home not by choice. But after more than two years, many decided to make the lifestyle permanent. How you work is your choice. The curriculum you choose is totally up to you. This can be a very good thing, but it also adds a lot of pressure to you.

In this post I share all of my best tips on being a mompreneur.

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links. If you purchase using one of these links, I make a small commission at no additional cost to you. This helps me keeps things free for you, and who doesn’t love free stuff. For more information, see my disclosures.

Being Mompreneurs

I created this website, and everything that goes with it, for mompreneurs to find everything you need to homeschool and work from home. From how to posts to tools for your mom bag. This is literally a one-stop shop.

In all my years of being a momtrepreneur and homeschool mom, I’ve learned a few things and heard a number of others. There are something I wish I knew before starting to work from home. Other advice someone shared, but a lot through experience.

I wanted to distill all of the advice down to my top 3 or 4. Sometimes there is just so much information  out there, we experience information overload and become paralyzed to the next steps.

These are simple nuggets of wisdom that you can either try or decide it doesn’t work for you.  Here’s the thing, just because something works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. But sometimes we need to hear from others to get more ideas. Or to use the idea we heard to come up with something that works for us as individuals. And that’s ok. Sometimes we just need small bites of information to get started.

4 Things You Need to Know to Start an Online Business

This is my best business advice for momtrepreneurs. There is so much advice out there it can feel overwhelming when you are starting your online business. After almost 10 years of being a successful virtual assistant, I share with you the best advice I’ve heard, read, or learned through experience.

Must Have Business Tools for Mompreneurs

What are the must have business tools for your online business or your virtual assistant business? I’ve been a work from home mom for almost 10 years, and I am going to let you in on my favorite business tools. If you are just starting out and you aren’t sure what you should pay for or invest in. Then let me help you out my fellow momtrepreneur. These are the only web apps you need for starting your business.

There are only 3 tools—Divi Theme, Canva, and Ubersuggest— so you can start your virtual assistant business or online business with very little money.

Best Advice from a Homeschooling Mom of 6

As a homeschool mom of 6, ages 4–18 and a second generation homeschooler, I wanted to share the best advice from my many years of doing this. From homeschooling kindergarten to changing curriculum mid-year…really it is ok. I know this hard to do, but you can do it. And you don’t need a textbook for every subject.

Homeschool Beyond Books: 3 Tools to Use in Your Homeschool

You homeschool so that you can create the life you love and work and school on your terms. This means that your homeschool doesn’t need to look like public school. You can choose to get the entire curriculum pack (this is what I do), or piece curriculum together. Whatever you decided to use, think beyond the books.

There are three homeschool tools that I like to use. DVD courses are a lifesaver. Especially, as a work from home mom. These are great tools to alleviate some of the teaching pressure. You can get a complete curriculum or pick and choose the subjects.

Canva is another tool to add to your homeschool mom bag. You can create homeschool resources, and your kids can learn design concepts.

Skillshare is the final tool to incorporate. This really takes learning beyond the books. It allows your kids to really explore something that interests them, and it is pretty inexpensive.

4 Parenting Tips for Mompreneurs

I always feel like my kids need to be 30 before I can offer parenting advice. But here is goes anyway. These are tips that I’ve heard or experienced myself. First, if you want to raise polite kids, then be polite to them. Yep, it is that simple. Second, apologize when you need to. It is not always an easy thing to apologize to a two-year-old, but sometimes it is necessary. Third, enjoy your kids. Even if it is just sitting on the couch drawing a square over and over. Finally, your kids aren’t you. This can be a tough lesson to learn, but it is a necessary one.

Conclusion for Mompreneurs

Mom, it is not easy doing what we do. While we may expect perfection from ourselves, just know that it is ok to be in a place of always learning and growing. I hope these tips help you on your journey.

What is one thing that has helped you on your mompreneur and homeschool mom journey?
